S.253.2 – Charles W. Hawkins Seminar Building

OFFICIAL WEBSITE

The middle building is named after Charles Warren Hawkins, who taught ancient languages at the college from 1935 to 1957.  Wright experimented with various colors for his bricks, attempting to approximate the most natural color for the area.  This building is one of my favorites because it shows some of those color trials in its construction.

Note the angle of the blocks at the foundation.  This was designed to give the illusion of a floating building.
