S.388 – Dorothy H. Turkel Residence,

2760 W. Seven Mile Road, Detroit, Michigan

This house is about half a mile west of Woodward Avenue adjacent to the affluent Palmer Park and Palmer Woods districts, and is the only Wright design within the Detroit city limits.

The structure was totally renovated by its new private owners.  Here’s a video with a short tour during renovations.

The house was filmed as part of the remake of the movie “Sparkle,” which was shot in Detroit in 2011 and released in August 2012.  It is open to the public for ticketed special events.

Photographed on January 29, 2010 and July 2, 2009.  I shoot this house a lot, so I will add some more recent photos one of these days.
