S.238 – Johnson Research Tower, 1525 Howe Street, Racine, Wisconsin

OFFICIAL WEBSITE

S.237 – Main building  -  S.237A – 1951 additions  -  Furniture

Built in 1944 next to the Johnson Wax headquarters (S.237).  The tower had only one fire exit and did not comply with later building codes.  The company did not want to change Wright’s design, and decided to abandon – but keep – the building.  In 2014 the tower was opened for regular public tours.

Photographed on May 10 & 11, 2012.
