S.159 – William H. Copeland Garage Alterations, 408 Forest Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois You can catch only the slightest glimpse of the separate garage behind the Copeland property during the foliage season, but views improve when the leaves drop. It is assigned a different number because it was a separate project. The Copeland house was originally built in 1875; the garage may have been built as a stable then or added later. In any event, Mr. Copeland hired Wright to renovate the garage in 1908. This led to a commission to alter the house itself (S.158) a year later. Photographed on January 26, 2014 and August 30, 2009.
