S.202.2 – Chester Bragg Residence,
6644 34th Street, Berwyn, Illinois LINK TO DISCUSSION OF AMERICAN
SYSTEM-BUILT HOMES This and two other homes were
recently “discovered” as being American System-Built Homes, constructed by
Chester Bragg in 1915. Bragg was the
ASBH dealer in this area. Bragg lends
his name to this home because he resided here. It sits on the corner of 34th and Wesley,
affording excellent views from two streets (and a partial view from the
alley). The other recent discoveries are
former S.203.5 and S.203.6. Both those properties were removed from the
4th edition of the Storrer book, though. My question for other researchers:
was this the same Chester Bragg (Chester Homer Bragg), a real estate broker
at 3101 Harlem Avenue, Berwyn who testified
against Al Capone? See U.S.
Treasury Department report on Al Capone for more details of Bragg’s involvement,
particularly beginning at page 13. Photographed on November 11, 2013. |
