S.177a – William Heald Residence,

716 Crescent Boulevard, Glen Ellyn, Illinois

MAP

This 1913 project was a recent find between Prof. Storrer’s third and fourth editions of the Complete Catalog.  Located on a wooded hill, this home sits where Lee Street meets Crescent in a neighborhood with a lot of modern architecture.

I do not know whether the garage at the bottom of the hill or the carport attached to the house are original structures.  The date of construction predates carports, but not detached garages.  The plans apparently are not found in the Taliesin archives, but were found in Lloyd Wright’s papers.

Photographed on April 27, 2018.
