S.116 – William H. Pettit Mortuary Chapel, Belvidere Cemetery

Webster Street at East Harrison Street, Belvidere, Illinois

As soon as you enter the cemetery, you will see this chapel and know immediately what you have found.  The chapel is ordinarily locked and the lights kept off, so interior shots are not easy.  In recent years they have added a sign informing visitors that they may call a telephone number to gain entry, but there is not always someone there to answer.

Photographed on April 5, 2014, and on a rainy day in September, 2008.
