S.073 – Lawrence Memorial Library 101 East Laurel Street at First
Street, Springfield, Illinois To commemorate her father, Susan Lawrence Dana
(see S.072) commissioned
Wright in 1905 to design a library in the local school board building. Her father Rheuna was the school board
present when he passed away in 1901. Although the building was converted to an
adult education center, the library was rebuilt from the original plans in
1993 in its original location. It is
available for limited touring on weekdays during the school year. The library is not visible from the
exterior, though. Photographed
