S.043 George Furbeck Residence, 223 North Euclid Avenue, Oak Park, Illinois

Photographed on September 1, 2009. This most unusual house is not entirely original. William Allin Storrer notes that the front porch area was once open and smaller. Notice that the ninth course of bricks (and upward) on the front of the house differs from the lower courses which were more likely the originals (even though they do not share the pattern of the brown bricks on the main structure). Also notice that you can find the door! Although a garage is visible from the alley, it is unlikely it is original as this design originated in 1897, prior to the modern style of garage seen here.
