S.000 – Unity Chapel, County Road T at State Route 23, Spring Green, Wisconsin

MAP

This 1886 building was added to Prof. Storrer’s later editions of his guidebook after further research indicated Wright was involved in the design sketches.  Prior to that discovery, the building was attributed entirely to Joseph Lyman Silsbee, a mentor to and early employer of Wright.  Silsbee primary practiced in Syracuse, Buffalo and Chicago.

The church is very close to Taliesin.  It was built for Wright’s maternal relatives, the Lloyd Jones family.  The church yard features numerous family graves, a sampling of which are included here.
